Richland County School District One

Influent Energy, as part of a current Schneider Electric modernization project, designed and installed a 718.2kW distributed solar PV system at Alcorn Middle School for the Richland County School District One in Columbia, South Carolina, faetured in the photo to the right. When complete, 8.68MW solar PV will adorn the rooftops of fifteen schools in the district. The sites include Alcorn Middle School, J.P. Thomas Elementary School, Columbia High School, Pine Grove Elementary School, Southeast Middle School, South Kilbourne Elementary School, Satchel Ford Elementary School, Lower Richland High School, St. Andrews Middle School, Burton Pack Elementary School, W. G. Sanders Middle School, W.A. Perry Middle School, Eau Claire High School, Hand Middle School, and Logan Elementary School.
Schneider Electric’s two-phase project across 15 district campuses will guarantee Richland One nearly $57 million in energy savings during the next twenty years and is central to their goal of achieving net zero energy consumption at several district sites.
In addition to enjoying the benefits of clean energy, we’ve provided the District with our K-12 curriculum Generating Tomorrow to give students the opportunity to learn about solar PV systems and renewable energy, transforming their schools into live learning labs. The program includes lessons on sources of energy to energy efficiency and much more.
